The Role
The Data Protection Analyst supports Markel’s Data Protection and Privacy framework. This role ensures Markel’s data protection policies, standards and strategies are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and contracts while supporting the strategic plan of the organisation. The Data Protection Analyst will examine systems and procedures while addressing data related issues. This role will assist in building continuous and constant interaction with business partners across the organisation to understand the constantly evolving data protection environment.
What you will be doing:
Implement and enhance the Data Privacy Governance Framework.
Monitor and understand various data related regulations and laws, such as, the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), US California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as directed by the Data Protection Officer.
Actively support the ongoing efforts around policies, standards and topology diagrams while adhering to procedures.
Provide appropriate awareness to a data protection culture throughout the organisation ensuring employees are conscience of the importance and impact of data protection.
Identify, log, raise and mitigate data protection risks & issues.
Perform investigation, discovery, recording and facilitating activities involved with data requests.
Bring up issues accordingly to the Data Protection Officer and Director of Business and Cyber Resiliency.
Support for the entire data protection infrastructure understanding and detailing the location of privacy and critical data, and documenting processes on maintaining the framework.
Support the Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) process.
Support the Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR) process.
Understand and use monitoring tools to analyse patterns in order to identify performance issues and account for capacity planning.
What we are looking for: Preferred Certifications ITIL Certification
CIPP – Internal Association of Privacy Professionals
Privacy & Data Protection Foundation (PDPF)
Privacy & Data Protection Practitioner (PDPP)
Privacy & Data Protection Expert (PDPE)
SECO-Certified Privacy & Data Protection Officers (CPDPO)
Knowledge of privacy regulations in both the EU and US.
Have some knowledge of the connection between Cloud, mobile and other technologies relative to data protection and privacy.
Knowledge of data protection software and non-virtualized systems
