Your purpose
The Legal Manager – Data Protection and Privacy is a key member of the Data Protection team. The role is broad and, among other things, involves advising the business on various legal risks and obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation as well as other global Data Protection and Privacy laws.
The tasks in this role will involve extensive stakeholders engagements to include; dealing with various data protection Supervisory Authorities in relation to queries, complaints and support Supervisory Authority investigations, as subject matter expert the post holder will advise over +1500 Specsavers stores globally in relation to data protection and privacy matters and will support colleagues across a number of global offices.
Your role
Represent the DPO in all relevant matters, including informing, providing advice to the business, and responding to any queries concerning the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and all other EU privacy and data protection matters
Assist and support the data protection and privacy managers in the UK and Northern Europe in the processing of data subject request and privacy relates cases and any complaints there may be. The requirement to assist with case handling will takes priority over other accountabilities of this role, and the role holder will provide relevant cover for staff leave, absence and undertake delegated case handling tasks during periods of peak demand as required from time to time by the DPO.
Responsible for evaluating, monitoring the performance and effectiveness of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
Stakeholder engagement forge business relationships and ensure regular visits to stores, evaluate, monitor and support stores to comply with data protection and privacy policies and champion best practice.
Develop guidance as well as training and awareness materials for relevant stakeholders – support the DPO in implementing and delivering data protection and privacy awareness trainings across Specsavers.
What youll bring
Demonstrable experience of data protection/ privacy related work
Extensive understanding of current data protection legislation, the GDPR and its implications for commercial businesses
Experience of dealing with practical aspects of data protection compliance (i.e. preparing fair processing information, privacy statements, customer preference profiling, dealing with subject access requests and regulatory notifications where necessary)
Experience of performing a similar role, ideally within Retail, Healthcare or Technology.
