I am currently recruiting for a Data Protection Officer for a well known client who have offices across the south coast. This is a fully remote role with the occasional travel for meetings. The role is covering maternity for an approximate 9 months.
The Role:
To establish, implement and maintain effective procedures and administrative systems including day-to-day financial administration and contributing to administrative planning for the function.
To represent the department/function at meetings and act as business representative for initiatives as required.
To undertake project tasks or more specialised administrative work relating to the specific function or department.
To manage the collection, maintenance, and integrity of data within businesses systems and ensure the timely and accurate provision of information
Responsibilities:
Deliver an effective function for co-ordinating responses to Freedom of Information requests and Subject Access Requests, ensuring compliance with statutory timeframes and data protection legislation and directing the Information Governance Administrator as appropriate
Provide specialist advice and guidance to staff and managers on all matters relating to data protection and freedom of information, including data sharing and disclosure
Work with Information Asset Owners to develop and maintain an Information Asset Register as required by the GDPR. Work with Information Asset Owners and Information Asset Leads to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments, helping to embed privacy by design and ensuring that risks are appropriately identified and mitigated
Contribute to the development and delivery of training, deliver an effective e learning package for all staff. This includes the development of the material, and the monitoring of completion rates and escalating areas for concern or identifying training needs
Maintain up to date knowledge and respond to key changes to data protection legislation. Collaborate with peers and act as a Service representative within the NFCC Information Governance group. Liaise with the ICO for advice and guidance where necessary
Monitor compliance with the Local Government Code of Transparency and information required to be proactively published according to the Freedom of Information Act
Lead on the management of data protection related security incidents ensuring these are mitigated, including identifying and communicating lessons learned
Lead and develop the businesses approach to managing policies and procedures
