GFRD is internationally accredited through the Center for Public Safety Excellence. To become accredited, agencies must complete a strategic self-assessment, develop continuous quality improvement initiatives and present the conclusions to a commission of fire service leaders.
In addition, GFRD was awarded Class 1 Public Protection Classification by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) in 2019. Every five years ISO conducts an evaluation of Gilberts fire protection capabilities and assigns a classification of 1 10, with Class 1 being the highest ranking. These classifications are utilized by most insurers to establish homeowner and business insurance premiums.

We are looking for a talented and world class Privacy & Compliance Officer to join our award winning Gilbert Fire & Rescue team!

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Privacy & Compliance Officer.
The Privacy and Compliance Officer will maintain, review, and audit medical data to assure privacy and compliance standards are in alignment with state and federal regulations regarding ambulance service delivery and medical billing practices. The Privacy and Compliance Officer will maintain the GFRD privacy and compliance programs and deliver education to the workforce of GFRD on a regular basis. This position is considered to be the expert source for information regarding privacy laws and billing compliance regulations.
+ Reviews medical reports for accuracy and appropriate information is documented prior to submittal to third party billing company.
+ Quality assurance of appropriate medical care and billing practices.
+ Maintenance and updating of the GFRD ambulance compliance program.
+ Educate and train Fire and Transportation staff on Privacy and Compliance regulations.
+ Reviews medical record requests and redacts HIPPA protected information.
+ Review and respond to all medical record and billing invoice requests.
+ Analysis and review of Fire and Transportation RMS systems.
+ Develop and deliver reports as required to State and Federal regulatory agencies.
+ Investigate any claim for billing issues, impermissible privacy disclosures, privacy breaches, and any other regulatory issue.
+ Conduct exit interviews.
+ Conduct Risk Analysis for privacy and compliance programs.
+ Research new hires for exclusion list.
+ Other duties as assigned.

+ Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or a related field and three years of experience in data compilation and analysis, and quality assurance of medical reports.
+ Must be an expert in HIPPA privacy laws and regulations.
+ Must have 2-3 years experience in medical billing compliance regulations.
+ Preferred Certified Paramedic or Registered Nurse
+ Preferred Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer
+ Preferred Certified Ambulance Privacy Officer
+ Preferred Certified Ambulance Coder
+ Advanced and basic life support medical documentation
+ Quality assurance experience
+ Privacy and billing compliance
+ Familiarity with NEMSIS and ImageTrend Record Management System
+ Data analysis and presentation skills
+ Analyzing data to drive evidence based decision making in the fire and medical fields.
Physical & Environmental Conditions:
+ Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.
+ Requires sitting/standing and looking at a computer screen for extended periods,
+ Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
+ Individual cannot be on the Office of the Inspector General list of Excluded individuals/ Entities.

Our wage range for this role is $78,766.00 – $118,149.00 Annually. This is also an exempt role that would not receive overtime. Most individuals starting in a role with Town of Gilbert begin between the minimum and the mid-point for the range.
