
Our client has a permanent vacancy for a Legal Counsel Data Protection to lead and provide legal/contractual advice on data protection legislation to ensure compliance and risk mitigation, resolve data protection matters in a contractual/transactional context for customers, supplier, and technology to ensure compliance with data privacy law. You will provide in-house training to the business to manage risk and introduce compliant processes.
The Role
Review and negotiate supplier contracts
Work with colleagues in delivering projects providing data/GDPR lead advice and obtaining consents needed to implement processes in partnerships with the technology, legal, GPO procurement and cyber security functions
Providing high quality, pragmatic legal advice for corporate and commercial matters relating to GDPR, international data transfers
Building proven relationships with a number of key business partners within the business
Identifying and mitigating legal risks and raising key risks to the head of legal
Advising on any website/marketing /comms issues and report drafting to update
Supporting business strategies from a data protection perspective
Provide clarification on data protection/GDPR legal language or specifications as and when required
Ensure business processes are compliant and current relating to data protection and GDPR
Enhance legal competence relating to data protection legislation
Requirements
A qualified solicitor with hands on experience advising on data protection. Significant post qualification experience
A strong knowledge of EU data privacy and data protection regulations
Possesses an eye for detail as well as a commercial, pragmatic attitude
Strong relationship management skills and confidence in dealing with ExCo and OpCo
Quick to adjust work priorities to meet the changing demands of both the market and internal partners
Ability to collaborate and influence to achieve positive outcomes
The ability to manage complex stakeholders and partnering relationships
Experience of communicating and presenting complex information to internal and external stakeholders
