Our Privacy & Data Protection service line operates nationally and across the world, serving clients in almost every sector and industry imaginable. The Privacy & Data Protection team is part of the Technology & Digital Practice that sits within our Advisory and Consulting Branch.
This role is predominantly a client-facing delivery focused role providing the unique opportunity to help our clients solve complex and cutting-edge data protection business challenges.
At Mazars, you will have the unique opportunity to work on a wide range of privacy engagements and support other areas within our Technology & Digital Practice such as Cyber Security, Ethical Hacking, Forensics, Data Automation, IT Assurance and Technology Advisory.
A Consultant in the Privacy & Data Protection team provides sound technical advice, guidance and supports on data privacy matters across our network. You will be a privacy generalist with an ambition to specialise in specific areas of legislation and technology. You will need a good understanding and a desire to broaden knowledge on key pieces of legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA), the Privacy & Electronic Communication Regulation (PECR) as well as other emerging privacy legislation across the globe, which can also be developed as your career develops.
The role will involve undertaking research on developing trends and legislation across the globe which will be articulated through articles and newsletters across our network; you will be integral in helping shape our tools, working papers and frameworks which will be used to support our clients; you will independently carry out fieldwork on a variety of projects and programs which include analysing and investigating documentation; draft reports which will be presented to senior stakeholders internally and externally; manage and track projects; and be a key player in the team by contributing to the development of the service line through various activities and initiatives.
Summary Role & Responsibilities You will:
Assist with privacy compliance reviews and remediation activities across our global engagements
Manage and deliver privacy audits from start to finish
Support ongoing privacy compliance activities with an eye for creating process efficiencies where possible
Help define, update, maintain, and enhance privacy compliance program requirements
Support the monitoring of system & process development for privacy compliance
Provide subject matter expertise and insight on a variety of privacy-related programs, initiatives, and workflows
Assist in periodic review of applicable privacy policies in light of changes to laws, regulations, and regulatory landscape
Monitor and evaluate evolving laws, rules, regulations, and guidance to help maintain compliance and strategic alignment
Skills, Knowledge and Experience We are looking for:
The ability to build stakeholder relationships, articulate privacy matters to various stakeholders and communicate confidently to stakeholders at various levels
Strong project management skills with proven ability of helping to drive issues to resolution and strong independent judgment
Strong problem-solving abilities, flexible, able to navigate transformational growth and ambiguity, show initiative and anticipate needs, and able to focus on multiple workstreams at once
A general understanding of technology and security issues impacting privacy projects and programs
A genuine interest and desire to work in the privacy field
Awareness of ongoing and recent developments across the privacy landscape
Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including, report writing is essential
Proficiency in MS Office – PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Team-focused with a passion for learning, excellence and continuous improvement
Demonstrate respect and integrity in working with others at all levels of the business
Minimum of 1-2 years’ related experience
Bachelor’s Degree – Law degree or a degree in technology field desirable
Privacy certification desirable or working towards certification – preferably at least one (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPP/A, CIPM or CIPT)
