Privacy is a critical area of focus at Optus. This role will work closely on an ongoing project of work to contribute to the development of Optus’ sustainable and repeatable data governance and privacy program.
As a senior member of the team, the SMP will primarily act autonomously with only some guidance from the Privacy Director when Optus strategic direction is required.
This will be done by guiding the relevant business units in implementing changes associated with the implementation of strategic Optus projects or as a consequence of new legislation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing expert advice to project teams and Optus senior leaders to ensure privacy requirements are inherent to all business solutions;
Conducting privacy impact assessments and making recommendations on matters relating to complex privacy issues such as: biometrics, automation, digitisation, artificial intelligence, data analytics and other complex and multi-jurisdictional issues;
Advising on privacy law and regulatory reforms and assisting in the implementation of the overall privacy governance framework;
Advising on Optus’ privacy incidents. This will see you support the management of complex and high risk issues, helping to ensure that these issues are contained, prevention recommendations met, incident register kept accurate and incidents managed in accordance with the legal requirements of the data breach notification laws;.
You will (have some of the following):
Proven experience, ideally in a privacy, compliance/regulatory or legal role;
Prior experience working as a trusted advisor within projects.
A strong strategic problem solver with commercial acumen and sound judgement;
Proven experience to deal with complex and high-profile privacy issues;
Previous exposure to project management or change management would be useful, but not mandatory.
