The Opportunity 

The Virtual Cyber Capability is made up of high-performing, US-based resources who work closely with our experienced professionals to deliver project-based work and managed services to our clients.

The Data Security Engineer, consultants and analysts work in conjunction with our client teams to identify and resolve potential issues long before they even happen. As our Security Engineer you will play a critical role in providing the quality support services to organizations managing their environment.  We look for individuals who have a passion for cloud and infrastructure services. You can expect to work across multiple industries, support complex environments, and develop key client relationships.    

 

 

 

Your key responsibilities

 On our Data Security Engineering team, you will assist with the implementation of key data security controls

  • Strong understanding of data security tools and controls (e.g. data encryption, data tokenization, secrets management)
  • Manage and maintain our clients’ data security operations in compliance with information security frameworks
  • Create configuration management policies based on industry best practices, client security standards and regulatory requirements
  • Assist and lead continuous process and quality improvement initiatives
  • Develop metrics (e.g., key performance indicators, dashboards, aggregation of data) to assist with scheduled reporting to the client and associated internal teams
  • Develop and deliver meaningful hands-on training for our clients and internal teams

 

 

Skills and attributes for success 

  • Interpersonal communication and organizational skills required to operate as a leading member of global distributed technical teams that deliver quality services. 
  • Strong understanding and experience with the implementation and administration of virtualized environments 
  • Staying informed on the latest industry and trends, risks and opportunities, especially regarding vendors and competitors 
  • Communicating issues and escalating where necessary to promote collaboration, innovation and timely service 
  • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders.   
     

To qualify for the role you must have 

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 3-5 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 2 years of related work experience  
  • Strong understanding of data security tools and controls (e.g. data encryption, data tokenization, secrets management)
  • Experience embedding security into Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Basic development or scripting experience
     

Ideally, you’ll also have 

  • Strong presentation and communication skills 
  • CISSP, CISM, CISA, CIPT, CIPM, CRISC or other relevant certification desired 
  • Experience with AWS (preferred) or other relevant cloud providers (*AWS certifications are a plus)
  • Experience with the following tools is a plus: Unbound (data tokenization), Hashicorp Vault

What we offer

 

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $54,700 to $101,500. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $45,200 to $87,600.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
