Our client, one of the fastest growing technology employers and a Fortune Top 10, is seeking a Senior Privacy Specialist. The Specialist will design, prioritize, and execute ongoing monitoring and control testing against company privacy policies and standards, will identify potential issues and raise them to business owners, drive improvements across teams and deliver risk management reporting to Privacy leadership. This role requires program management skills, deep analytical problem solving, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technical program managers, and product managers. The candidate will understand how to evaluate control effectiveness with technical depth, understand levels of potential risk and how to address them, and deliver multiple high priority projects at the same time. The candidate will also have the ability to synthesize diverse data to identify patterns, draw conclusions, and prioritize remediation efforts using risk management concepts. Experience with GDPR, CCPA, COPPA and other privacy regulations is required; program management experience, including change management, project management, stakeholder management, user training, and communications is also required. 

Job summary:

  • We are looking for a privacy-minded, customer focused professional to drive large cross functional implementation initiatives. In this role, you will be working with a large set of business and technical leaders as well as central Privacy product and engineering tools to build processes, tools, and artifacts to raise the Privacy bar.
  • This position will require a broad set of skills that will range from program management to analytical problem solving. You will be working closely with teams across the company, including Legal, engineering, and business owners. You must be able to effectively partner to deliver privacy goals, including continually improving the corresponding processes and technology. The role requires a strong ability to influence others.

Key job responsibilities:

  • You will leverage your experience to drive large-scale efforts that solve significant problems. You will help decompose complex privacy processes into straight-forward solutions. We are looking for a critical thinker with a bias for action who is also technically adept and thrives on solving challenges in partnership with teams across the company. You should have experience working on large technical programs and a deep understanding of applying technical solutions to address business requirements.

This position will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Participating in programs that drive compliance to global privacy-related regulations, policies, and customer promises across the company
  • Capturing business requirements and working as a liaison between technology engineering teams and business teams
  • Understanding and mapping data flows and transformations
  • Effectively communicating complex topics such as Privacy or Security in an understandable manner
  • Driving effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.

A day in the life:

  • This role requires a good communicator and technologist that loves Privacy and solving complex problems with a large and diverse set of colleagues. You will work on key initiatives across the company, addressing Privacy compliance at scale. You will also assist in creating and executing action plans to drive compliance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technology, or equivalent experience in technology companies.
  • Familiar with GDPR, CCPA, COPPA and other privacy regulations.
  • Significant experience in a privacy, legal, compliance, or information security role.
  • Significant experience in program management, including change management, project management, stakeholder management, user training, and communications.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, problem solve, and make decisions in complex situations.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically in a high energy, fast paced environment.
  • Proven ability to take ownership, self-motivate, and deliver results in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience working with large, enterprise-wide technology implementations that impact multiple lines of business.
  • Strong understanding of modern data processing environments, service-oriented architectures, cloud computing technologies and relevant security and privacy standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to executives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security or Privacy industry certifications (CISSP, CIPP/US)
  • Experience delivering complex technical projects for diverse stakeholders
